A Letter From the President

Chinese-American and non-Chinese American geotechnical professionals. Our inaugural meeting was
attended by forty-five Southern California geotechnical engineers and leaders. Our second geotechnical
workshop was attended by over seventy geotechnical engineers from the universities, government agencies
and engineering consulting firms. We will have our third geotechnical workshop soon.
We received a congratulation letter from the President of Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and
Engineering (CSRME) and a number of congratulation letters from its provincial branch societies. NACGEA
was approved to represent CSRME in North American. As for such, we have two vice presidents one for the
Our association focuses on the professional development of our members in transportation and water
resources related geotechnical and earthquake engineering. We also provide a platform through CSRME for
North American geotechnical professional organizations and individuals to build relationships with Chinese
geotechnical organizations, leaders and peers.
I want to thank our advisory committee chaired by Dr. Craig Davis, PE, GE who provides advices to our
technical activities. I also would like to thank our officers, Dr. Liping Yan, PE, GE, Dr. Li Yan, PEng, and Dr.
Jianping Hu, PE, for their contributions to the success of NACGEA. Last but not the least, I would like to thank
all our members and friends who have supported our goals and participated in our growth.
